Assessment and motivation in English language programmes

This workshop investigates how formal assessment and classroom-based assessment can motivate learners and enhance learning.

Drawing on meta-analyses from general education and using a Learning Oriented Assessment (LOA) framework, we explore practical ways of motivating learners via constructive feedback and appropriate follow-up tasks. We look at how teachers can use assessment to respond directly to learner needs.
